A Rich History Once home to Cartagena’s working class, Getsemaní has played a crucial role in the city's history. These colorful murals tell stories of love, struggle, and community, offering a visual narrative that’s impossible to ignore. As you explore, you’ll encounter Plaza de la Trinidad, a bustling square where locals and tourists gather to enjoy live music, street performances, and food vendors offering delicious local treats. It’s the perfect spot to soak in the energy of Getsemaní while enjoying some of the best arepas and empanadas in town. Whether you’re dining at a family-run eatery or a high-end restaurant, the cuisine in Getsemaní is a reflection of its diverse community. You’ll find fresh seafood dishes, savory street food, and an array of unique cocktails served at trendy bars throughout the neighborhood. The Perfect Balance of Old and New What makes Getsemaní truly special is its ability to balance old-world charm with a modern, artistic vibe. While the area has experienced a resurgence in recent years, with new hotels, galleries, and bars opening up, it has retained its original character. You can still wander down colonial-era streets, explore historic churches, and enjoy the warm hospitality that Cartagena is known for.
